I have just noticed something: I don't even have to _click_ in the address bar to make it come to senses. I just have to move the pointer so it is over the address bar.
I am pretty sure this has to do with iceweasel trying to track the mouse movements in the drop-down list of completions and keep the selection in that list following the mouse. IMHO this is a misfeature to begin with; if a menu or completion list results from typing, only keyboard interaction should apply. Otherwise there is going to be random unwated interaction depending on where the mouse starts.
