Package: gdb Version: 7.0.1-2+b1 Severity: normal
GDB isn't compiled with PIE support in squeeze, but Apache is compiled with PIE. This makes debugging apache impossible. Apache's justification is that GDB does support PIE, see: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.16-4/changelog apache2 (2.2.15-6) unstable; urgency=low [...] * Build as PIE, since gdb in squeeze now supports it. [...] -- Stefan Fritsch <s...@debian.org> Sat, 24 Jul 2010 22:18:43 +0200 This inconsistency should either be a bug against apache, or a bug against gdb. I've chosen you, because the way forward is fixing it :) Bron. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.34.7-fm64 (SMP w/16 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gdb depends on: ii gdbserver 7.0.1-2+b1 The GNU Debugger (remote server) ii libc6 2.11.2-7 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libexpat1 2.0.1-7 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libncurses5 5.7+20100313-4 shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpython2.6 2.6.6-6 Shared Python runtime library (ver ii libreadline6 6.1-3 GNU readline and history libraries ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime gdb recommends no packages.
