I see in the default Gnome notification area that there are
updates. I click on the icon and I am asked for my root password
and 'update-manager' launches. I see the list of updates and
select "Install Updates". Immediately a dialog comes up saying
that a "fatal error" has been encountered. The update itself
appears to take place regardless since 'dpkg' and other related
processes are visible in 'top'. Packages appear to have been
updated to the new versions.
When I launch 'update-manager' from the command line instead, the
single line output to the terminal is:
W: Unbalanced action groups, expect badness
Update Manager remains unresponsive. This has happened every
single time on this fresh install using Squeeze Debian-Installer Beta1.
