Package: chromium-browser Version: 6.0.472.63~r59945-1 Severity: normal
Hello When trying to configure Chromium to use Privoxy (the privoxy Debian package), there are two (separate?) issues: 1. in the gui options dialog, clicking on "change proxy settings" just display the following text in the top browser window: When running Chromium under a supported desktop environment, the system proxy settings will be used. However, either your system is not supported or there was a problem launching your system configuration. But you can still configure via the command line. Please see man chromium-browser for more information on flags and environment variables. 2. starting Chromium as chromium-browser --proxy-server=localhost:8118 makes it unable to get any web page, apparently because privoxy is listening on ::1, but not on 127.0.0.1. Even this chromium-browser --proxy-server=ipv6-localhost:8118 does not help. Changing /etc/privoxy/config -listen-address localhost:8118 +listen-address 127.0.0.1:8118 and restarting privoxy makes Chromium as chromium-browser --proxy-server=localhost:8118 work. So thanks to this workaround, I can still use it. Hopefully people can at least find this bug as help in case it cannot be fixed for the next release. I guess this is really a duplicate of bug #601255, but not being sure and to provide my own software versions I'm sending this separate report.
