I tried to reproduce this issue and Reuben explained me an issue
affecting copy/paste buffer indeed. But that's not exactly the one I
understand from your email.

  1. open a new zile buffer
  2. enter "abc<newline>"
  3. enter "def<newline>"
  4. enter "ghi<newline>"
  5. move to start of second line
  6. Ctrl-k (removes content of the line but keep the resulting
     empty line)
  7. Ctrl-k (deletes the empty line)
  8. move to end of buffer
  9. Ctrl-y
=> paste the newline but not the expected initial "def" content

Is that the bug you reported ?
