Package: ncurses-base
Version: 5.7+20081213-1
Severity: normal

ncurses-base provides a terminfo entry for screen which is tuned for
Debian system (kbs=^?). screen-256color and others are not tuned and
are based on original screen terminfo entry which poses problems with
backspace usage.

Problem is still there in squeeze.

% infocmp screen screen-256color
comparing screen to screen-256color.
        ...
        kbs: '\177', '^H'.
        ...

Thanks,

Nicolas.
