I'm not exactly sure whether it's solved in the development branch (1.5 series). I will investigate that. There are several changes in 1.5 and I will have to rework the packaging anyway, so this will take some time to fix. The little Debian time I have ATM goes into working on Squeeze, so please don't expect anything soonish. Hope that's OK with you. I'll also have to get back to you with regards to MPICH2.
