Package: elinks
Version: 0.11.4-3
Severity: important

1. I had difficulty setting E Links to use the system UTF-8 setting because
the
documented "Character set → System" setting is not available via the
menu item
"Setup → Character set". The option can be set using "Setup → Options
manager".
2. This makes the UTF-8 characters show up alright but:
2.1. The screen is partly garbled because:
2.1.1. the width of the characters is sometimes overestimated, e.g. "■" shows
up but is
calculated as being two characters wide so tables are badly formatted
etc.
2.1.2. some control characters seem to be sent to the screen erroneously so that
       characters appear in strange places
2.2. I'm not sure if the correct order of characters in right-to-left
languages is
       preserved.

For tests, you could use my very simple page for radio programmes:
http://montevideo.homedns.org
(especially the "recommendations" page which takes up to ten seconds to be
assembled)
