the exim_mailstats plugin is fully broken in the current munin release, see upstream ticket #985. The patch mentioned in the ticket is broken as well (it should use eq instead of == or it generates runtime diagnostics), but should be applied in Debian's munin package as well as Debian's default MTA is exim.
