Well, that's questionable: espeak provides many languages, while festival is a nicer engine for a couple of languages. The espeak dependency is quite strong since it's a direct library link. The festival dependency is not, and indeed is a Recommends ATM, so you can indeed drop festival if you do not want it. Should this really be lowered to a suggest?
