Bug#590052: bash: Incorrect treatment of \W in prompt

Had the same issue with Bash 3.x, so I upgraded and it's still 
happening.  Seems to not be dependent on Bash version.  Also doesn't 
happen on another Debian machine, and both are running squeeze/sid.
