I'm not sure what kind of comment you're looking for. Removing it would
needlessly cause me work on an ongoing basis (as I'd not be able to use it
in my regression test suite).

To address Moritz's points:

- Orphaned since 2006

Can't help you there, I don't maintain non-native packages.

- Minimal popcon

150 is not particularly minimal, when you consider that some unknown,
but presumably large percentage of users do not report to popcon. My rule of
thumb is that the percentage is probably 90%, so removing it would likely
inconvenience over a thousand Debian users.

Anyway, "not many people validate html" is not a good reason to not
have a html validator in Debian.

- Only supports HTML4

And XHTML 1.0. Both are, AFAIK, still the dominant standards on the web
today, and will probably remain such for 5 to 10 years. While I've love
to have a good html5 validator in Debian, it would be foolish for ikiwiki
to emit pure html5 by default.

Anyway, one nice thing about html4 being such an old standard is that
the validator is pretty-near bug-free. The only significant upstream
change that has been missed due to the lack of maintenance is support
for XHTML Mobile Profile and XHTML+RDFa.
