Package: splashy Version: 0.3.13-5.1+b1 Severity: serious Hi,
imho splashy is not fit for being released in squeeze: 1/ It does not work with KMS which is the default for all major graphics drivers 2/ Has a long list of important bugs 3/ Breaks the boot badly. At the end of the boot process I only have a black screen and gdm never shows up. I need to hard-reset the machine. 4/ Due to startpar in makefile being the default, progress bar support is broken, making splashy even less useful. 5/ Development of splashy is dead (at least there has been no activity for a very long time). I'm not the maintainer of splashy but in its current state I think the package should not be released with squeeze (as was usplash) and we would do our users a disservice having this package in squeeze. It might be worth considering dropping the package altogether, but I'll leave that decision up to the package maintainer.
