Yes. It worked because default-jdk was openjdk. This got changed because openjdk no longer builds on mips and it got switched to gcj. Depending default-jdk is wrong because it does not build with any jdk, it relies on openjdk. As I pointed out in #559088 the proper fix should be to build-dep-indep on openjdk and build the jar files only in arch:all run.
