I saw that I should maybe at some information to the bug. We discussed the problem a few time on the mailinglist and the think that debian is the wrong place for the patch. Such a patch belongs upstream as the problem is in no way debian specific but binary distribution specific a clear design flaw. There is also an issue in the upstream bugtracker: http://tracker.nagios.org/view.php?id=125 to follow the problem. I hope that make things clearer.
