Sorry, this is so ancient that I don't even own that camera anymore,
so I am not able to test anything. Let's mark it obsolete and move
on.
That's a very old version of libgphoto2 that you used... did you try
with one of the later versions? If they still fail, mind trying the
latest versions packaged here:
http://gnu.ethz.ch/debian/gphoto2/
