I've just tried to reproduce the described behaviour. I am sorry, but I really can't reproduce this behaviour. >From the shell output it seems to be related to either gconf or slib. So let me try a little bit of wild guessing: Does it help if you reinstall the packages gconf2, guile-2.6-slib and slib? Do these packages cleanly reinstall?
