Fair enough, I will carry the patch for myself then (via Launchpad PPA, https://launchpad.net/~blueyed/+archive/ppa in case somebody is interested). I would like to get feedback on this though: is the HISTFILE fix done properly? It gets called via etckeeper, a VCS based program to keep your /etc history; I am still using Bazaar (instead of Git) in most containers.
