Umm.. It appears not a complete fix. It seems to work randomly. This morning, when I turned on my machine and logged in, It appeared as a single column. (I'm using a vertical panel, and my configuration is to have a 2x2 layout. It's better this time, though. Before the fix, the applet appeared as a line of 2-pixel high, thus almost invisible.) Respawning doesn't help, unless I switch the panel orientation to horizontal first. I'll try more how to work it out.
