Unfortunately, there is not easy way. I suppose that I could place a debconf message to let the user know. The problem there is that if I make it priority low (as I think it should be), many users will not see it as they have set their systems to only show medium and above or high and above. However, if I make it priority high, I think that it is being a bit abusive of the debconf system. I still think the best way is to place a note in the documentation.
