Building on a broken Debian source package dir with french locale gives : dpkg-genchanges: erreur: impossible de lire le fichier des fichiers.: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type whereas LANG=C tells : dpkg-genchanges: error: cannot read files list file: No such file or directory I guess the proper french translation should be : impossible de lire le fichier listant les fichiers: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type Still the english message doesn't help spot which "files list file" is indeed missing, but that's another problem. Hope this helps.
