The target for this bintuils build should be changed to h8300-elf; COFF from what I can tell is unsupported/unfashionable in newer versions of GCC. Once an h8300-elf targetted binutils is in place we could then upgrade GCC to a recentish version that supports newer Renesas devices. H8/300 is still supported upstream.
