Leif, Do you have a graphic card that supports hardware driven 2D acceleration?
It is possible that the excessive cpu usage problem is related to computer systems that do not have accelerated graphic cards, or the accelerated graphic card drivers are not enabled.
My first tip that this might be a problem was brought to me by the following bug report: *Bug #628448* <https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=628448> - Unaccelerated X server should not have opaque window moving by default
