FYI: the instaweb changes in v1.7.2-rc0~55^2~3 (git-instaweb: Configure it to work with new gitweb structure, 2010-05-28) should take care of this, if backported carefully. (Why backport? Because the upstream introduction of /usr/share/gitweb/static is too big a change to adopt for Squeeze now imho.)
