Actually, it outputs very little itself. Most comes from apt and dpkg.
However, multistrap operations take an appreciable amount of time and
some form of user feedback is essential.

The amount and nature of the current output is closely related to
debootstrap and for similar reasons.

Exactly what output are you seeking to remove?

There are certain points where multistrap echoes the commands that are
being passed to apt, I am happy to put those behind a --quiet option
but that is about all. However, actions of apt and dpkg should not be
silenced.

All that will do is silence apt during the update and dependency check
phase, causing multistrap to appear to halt during the one phase when
the user most needs feedback. Progress indicators are ugly but letting
the script appear to hang is worse. If that is what you expect, I will
have to close this bug as wontfix.
