I can confirm that if I add this patch to the stock squeeze amd64 kernel (vers 
2.6.32-19) and then "dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -B -j8", I get a "vmlinuz" 
binary which can be used to start up Debian-Installer on an Amazon EC2 instance 
using the default amd64 kernel module udebs.
