Hi. IMHO even better than bzip2 would be to use xz. With gzip /usr/share/doc/RFC/ needs about 142 MiB, with xz --best it needs only 129M. (Having all doc-rfc-* installed but -experimental.) And 13 MiBs are 13 MiBs ;) Of course one would have to add a depends on xz-utils, but then vim & friends seem to support it out of the box.
