Sorry, I forgot to cc: you (Frank) in on the original report.
The version of libncurses5 in Debian Unstable for i386 was:
Package: libncurses5
Version: 5.7+20100313-2
and the only package it depends on is:
libc6 2.11.2-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib
This version of libncurses5 had been in Debian Unstable for a while, yet
I hadn't seen that bug before today.
The action that triggered the bug today (full-screen file transfer to
the machine running that version of libncurses5 for i386) had been done
by me several times before with the same build of libncurses5 and
C-Kermit without this bug appearing.
At the moment I suspect a build problem with libncurses5 or something
harder to track down. I'm not sure what version of gcc was used by
Debian to build libncurses5 5.7+20100313-2 for i386.
