Sorry for the delay. With xserver-xorg 1:7.5+5 and
xserver-xorg-video-radeon 6.13.1-2, xmame -fullscreen says
XDGAOpenFramebuffer failed
Use of DGA-modes is disabled
hence no crash. But no fullscreen either.
In addition, X now rejects any doublescan modelines ("doublescan
mode not supported") and ctrl-alt-[+]/ctrl-alt-[-] have become
no-ops.
So even though things have in fact got worse, yes the bug can be
closed.
