I would leave the decision to the stable release manager. But the facts are: i386 support on our ia64 porterbox is completely broken. The sun-java5/6 packages for ia64 cannot be used at all because the rely on i386 support. The binary packages are outdated on ia64 with security issues because the current source version cannot be built due to the same problem. That is why I suggest to remove the packages from stable/ia64. The better solution would be to fix the i386 support on ia64. But I cannot help with that since I do not have admin access to any ia64 hardware.
