Package: network-manager
Version: 0.8.0.999-1
Severity: important

Hello,

When I try to use my 3G modem with ppp 2.4.5-x and network-manager
0.8.0.999-1 on my up-to-date Debian Sid computer, I get the following
messages in the syslog, and my connection attempts fail.

With ppp 2.4.5-1, the error messages were like the following:
===
pppd[X]: /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4/nm-pppd-plugin.so: undefined symbol:
pap_passwd_hook
pppd[X]: Couldn't load plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4/nm-pppd-plugin.so
===

With ppp 2.4.5-2, the error message is like this:
===
pppd[X]: Plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4/nm-pppd-plugin.so is for pppd version
2.4.4, this is 2.4.5
===

This started to occur after the upgrade of ppp from 2.4.4rel-10.1 to
2.4.5 series. Obviously, downgrading ppp solves the issue.

To be honest, I wasn't sure where this compatibility problem should
be fixed: ppp or network-manager? I chose network-manager as the bug
report package as the library in question is provided by network-manager.

I chose "important" as the severity as this problem prevents a major
functionality from working.

Regards,
