Package: awesome Version: 3.4.6-1 Severity: normal
It is quite a weird situation. Both me, and my colleague (3 meters away, so I heard/saw him cursing) started to experience the same strange problem today. We have been using awesome for quite a while without major glitches. He is (still) running 3.4.5-1 (didn't upgrade any time recent I believe). I was in the middle of upgrade to what we have in testing now, so 3.4.4-1 was upgraded to 3.4.5-1 as well. Later on, I've upgraded to 3.4.6-1 (some entries in upstream changelog online were hinting on possible resolution) but problem managed to come back few times already. killall -HUP awesome was of no help. We had to killall awesome; wmaker (or metacity) to get windows back (surprisingly they managed to stay in the original workspaces/tags for me in wmaker), and then switching back to awesome (windows got assigned to tag 1). I am not sure how I could debug/troubleshoot awesome to provide adequate information and I've not spotted reliable way to reproduce it. When I was in 3.4.5-1, killall -HUP awesome was leading to survival of windows only in the current tag, the others were gone. Now I am not experiencing it that reliably with 3.4.6-1. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (901, 'unstable'), (900, 'testing'), (300, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages awesome depends on: ii dbus-x11 1.2.24-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libc6 2.11.2-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcairo2 1.8.10-4 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.24-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libev3 1:3.9-1 high-performance event loop librar ii libglib2.0-0 2.24.1-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libimlib2 1.4.2-8+b1 powerful image loading and renderi ii liblua5.1-0 5.1.4-5 Simple, extensible, embeddable pro ii libpango1.0-0 1.28.1-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libstartup-notification0 0.10-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3 X11 client-side library ii libxcb-atom1 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-aux0 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-event1 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-icccm1 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-image0 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-keysyms1 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-property1 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-randr0 1.6-1 X C Binding, randr extension ii libxcb-render-util0 0.3.6-1 utility libraries for X C Binding ii libxcb-render0 1.6-1 X C Binding, render extension ii libxcb-shape0 1.6-1 X C Binding, shape extension ii libxcb-shm0 1.6-1 X C Binding, shm extension ii libxcb-xinerama0 1.6-1 X C Binding, xinerama extension ii libxcb-xtest0 1.6-1 X C Binding, xtest extension ii libxcb1 1.6-1 X C Binding ii libxdg-basedir1 1.0.2-1 implementation of the XDG Base Dir ii menu 2.1.43 generates programs menu for all me Versions of packages awesome recommends: ii rlwrap 0.37-1 readline feature command line wrap ii x11-xserver-utils 7.5+1 X server utilities awesome suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
