Tags: fixed grub-pc/1.98+20100710-1
Hello,
Upgrading to 1.98+20100702-1 or newer, ideally
1.98+20100710-1, should have sorted this part of your problem out (it
looks like you had a stale device path lying around in the debconf
database); could you please confirm that?
Yes, it was in /var/cache/debconf/config.dat and have been solved by
upgrading to 1.98+20100710-1 now.
It was below the line: "Name: grub-pc/install_devices"
But neither GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep in combination with
GRUB_GFXMODE=0x105 nor GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1024x768x8 worked.
GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768 is more likely to work with
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep; you can't use hexadecimal mode numbers from
vga= in GRUB_GFXMODE.
I know that the number used by linux (0x305 for 1024x768x8) don't work
with grub. And now (with the new version i just updated to) the grub
number reported by vbeinfo (0x105 for 1024x768x8) works fine.
Best regards
Miche
