Package: sphinxsearch
Version: 0.9.9-5
Severity: wishlist

I'd like to support the inclusion of sphinxapi.php in the package. It is needed
for the
SphinxSearch MediaWiki extension. The extension cannot bundle the API, since it
does not
know which version of SphinxSearch you have. Debian (and thus Ubuntu) could
package it, and
it's not a large file.

It's of course possible to get the file from upstream, but how does the user
find it, or
know which revision to use? The file is frequently revised.

Failure to find the right API for your installation will lead to the dreaded
version
mismatch error in SphinxSearch within MediaWiki. It's a confusing error if you
don't know
that sphinxapi.php is the culprit.

Sphinx is a great search engine; thanks for packaging!
