But I really think that the explanatory text should be clarified to indicate that the cache settings will generally control what feed items are displayed, and not just which are saved to the cache. I think that users generally understand a cache to be a supplementary storage area, to speed up execution, or reduce bandwidth, and will not assume that the basic behavior of the application is controlled by these settings.
