Hi, I'm not using gnome-shell so I can't say if this issue is related to deluge or not, but what comes to my mind is trying to uncheck the following option: Preferences->Interface->Add Torrents Dialog->Bring the dialog to focus I'd also suggest to upgrade to latest available version (just uploaded to unstable 1.2.3+git20100701.131af5a).
