package: googleearth-package
version: 0.5.4
severity: wishlist

Hi,

firstofall, thanks for packaging googleearth-package! From looking at the BTS
it seems like a quite unthankful job ;)

The problem I have with the package is that the current googleearth version is
broken on lenny, ubuntu 9.04 and 10.04 at least, as one can see in this
thread:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/earth/thread?tid=5da393653cabeeb0&hl=en

Now that I'm filing this bugreport I have seen that make-googleearth-package
supports a --file option, which allows me to create a googleearth package
without editing make-googleearth-package.

Still, a --previous-version option would also be nice:

Using this switch,
GoogleEarth_bin_URL="http://dl.google.com/earth/client/current/GoogleEarthLinux.bin";
would be replaced with
GoogleEarth_bin_URL="http://dl.google.com/earth/client/advanced/previous/GoogleEarthLinux.bin";
which works on lenny.

Feel free to close this bug as wontfix, as --file basically does the same. I
would be happy if you would implement --previous-version anyway, as it's
easier to use.

Also this bug report should make other users of this package on lenny
happy :-)

cheers,
        Holger
