My apologies, there is no such bug Lenny's python. All the problems were
caused by setting a shell variable PYTHONHOME in the user shell to
satisfy requests of an image rendering application, Nvidia Gelato, which
I have installed myself. This environmental variable rendered python
framework and pymol unusable, and since it was transfered to the root's
shell environment by "su" command it also created the problems with
packages configuration. Thank you for developing Debian, it is a great
operating system.
