We could indeed continue working via collab-maint as mere QA uploads for now. Maybe after a couple of upload we will realise who is willing to work on it and create a small group or at least some sort of mailing list or mail exploder. With your upload now done the next step is to find out how to solve the issue with the different backends. I haven't even checked if enchant is capable of dlopen(3)ing the backends, but that sounds like the right solution. Creating very small packages for each and every backend would be silly.
