Package: reportbug Version: 3.15 Severity: normal
Every time I run reportbug, it gives me a condescending message about using "vi", and asks me to change it. This message really serves no purpose, other than to make reportbug's author look ridiculous. I recommend you include several other messages, for consistency: WARNING: You are using pico. Pico is an incredibly bad editor suited primarily for mental rejects. Would you like to stop filing this bug now and switch to "emacs"? WARNING: You are using emacs. Emacs is an excellent editor, which makes it too good for you. Recommend you switch to "nano" immediately. Do so now? WARNING: You are using nano. Nano is a pathetic toy developed for users who want a free editor, but are incapable of using any editor besides pico. You should switch to a real editor immediately, such as "ed". Switch? WARNING: You are using "ed" and are thus insane. It is recommanded that insane people use "vi" - use vi now? WARNING: You appear to be using the "vi" editor, which is not suited for new users. You probably want to change this setting by using "update- alternatives --config editor" as root, and selecting "pico." Continue? You might want to throw a few more in there just to round it out, such as jed. -- Package-specific info: ** Environment settings: EMAIL="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11.7 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages reportbug depends on: ii python2.3 2.3.5-3 An interactive high-level object-o Versions of packages reportbug recommends: ii python2.3-iconvcodec 1.1.2-1 Python universal Unicode codec, us -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
