Believe it or not, people do use Flash (Whats the web without Youtube, or WorldCup online matches?), and having a useless package is not an option either.
Until we find a way to workaround this (thanks to Adobe anyway..., this issue makes me hate Flash even more) some workarounds have to be made, and modfiyng 2.8's update-flashplugin is one perfectly valid. Leaving that vulnerability open is a huge risk (Watch out!) but is up to the user. Ive made that one and, also, installed flashblock so (i hope) i could enable flash on trusted sites only.
