Hello,after a default installation of Debian 5.0.x the debconf priority is set to high. But metche will only ask these questions with an debconf prirority of medium.
So the most users will never see these questions and metche defines CHANGELOG_FILE as default, which is missing after the installation.
I think you should set the default to "No changelog monitoring" at the "debian/templates". Otherwise the package should create the file, but not underneath "/root". Maybe "/etc/metche/changelog" or "/etc/metche/history" is more usefull.
