severity 290656 important thanks Hi Michael,
I think this bug needs to be given greater than wishlist priority. According to my investigations, workrave is the only application left in testing which still depends on libgnomeuimm2.0. It would be nice if we didn't have to ship a full set of obsolete GNOME C++ libs in etch just for one application. By my reckoning, the following libs could be dropped from etch once workrave is updated: libgnomeuimm2.0 libglademm2.0 gconfmm2.0 The following related libs look like they could also be trimmed from etch with no ill effects: bakery-gnomeui2.0 bakery2.0 gnome-vfsmm1.3 And with all of those out of the way, libgnomemm2.0 could apparently also be removed if glademm (build-dep only) and passepartout were updated. I'd say that's a significant archive savings, not to mention saving people the trouble of uploading each of these libs for the C++ transition... It also looks like Ubuntu has already transitioned workrave to the newer bindings. You can find their patch at <http://people.ubuntu.com/~scott/patches/workrave/workrave_1.6.2-1ubuntu4_packaging.patch>. In any case, Cc:ed to Bradley, who maintains all of those lib packages mentioned above, in case he knows of some reason we *shouldn't* be yanking them all out. :) Thanks, -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
