Sorry is the Severity of this bug isn't what it should, even if I think it should be considered release critical. While updating everything related with network manager from lenny to squeeze (network-manager 0.8 and also network-manager-pptp-gnome 0.8), the upgrade seems to work well, but I cannot connect to the configured pptp VPN anymore: if I choose the VPN a notification appears stating that "The VPN service was invalid". I thought "OK, the config file wasn't migrated or it failed to migrate properly" and decided to edit it to see what's wrong. Trying to do so, however, shows another error message: Could not find VPN plugin service for 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.ppp_starter'. Searching for that string on the web showed that I was not the only one seeing this upgrade breakage happening[1]. As in that case, creating a new VPN connection worked well.
