Hi Mike. That ia very odd. I have no extensions installed and extensions are disabled, but the problem still occurs in normal mode. However, switching to safe-mode, the browser works fine. Could there be some inbuilt "extension" that is being installed by Debian, which does not get run in safe-mode?
