Could you please apply the patch in:
vim /usr/share/doc/ifrename/HOTPLUG.txt.gz +227

So ifrename setup if painless. ifrename is something I am hoping to use
to setup eth0 as my wired ethernet interface and eth1 as my wireless
interface.
