If I choose an icon in $HOME/.icon in the customization dialog the icon does not display. I get the unknown-icon inistead. The same icon file displays fine if I put it to a visible path. A symbolic link to the hidden path works, too. This is a recent regression. It used to work in previous versions of gnome-panel. This just affects newly chosen icons.
