In doing so, it facilitates the ability to replicate a very valuable Apache mod_proxy_html function: ProxyHTMLURLMap
The Apache/mod_proxy_html ProxyHTMLURLMap directive is the key directive facilitating HTML link rewriting within a response's HTML body. I know of no other way for Nginx to do this, than through its HTTPSubModule support.
