This problem was fixed by manually changing in /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf the SoundSystem SoundSystem = ALSA
It would be nice if a dpkg-reconfigure would automatically detect the currently running sound system and update /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf correspongly Thanks for your work on Debian.
