Readme.txt on the install iso says: Debian GNU/Linux testing "Squeeze" - Official Snapshot i386 CD Binary-1 20100517-04:30
I was careless with my terms in the last email; I didn't do a net install. I did a normal CD install but opted to use the mirrors after the tasksel. To clarify, since I think I'm not being clear (both installs using the same ISO listed above): Install one: no network access, just install from the CD: Clock applet time zone in different format from /etc/timezone. Weather report in Clock doesn't work. Install two: network access, mirrors used during install: Clock applet time zone in same format as /etc/timezone. Weather report in Clock works. So, this seems to be fixed, and I will flog myself for submitting a bug before trying a full network-capable install.
